2009 Tralee Tidy Towns Awards Presented            

The Deputy Mayor of Tralee Cllr. Mairéad Fernane has paid tribute to all those involved in the Tralee Tidy Towns effort.  “You just don’t talk about improving our town, you get down and do something about it” she said.   She was speaking at the annual Tidy Tralee Awards Ceremony which took place on September 28 in the Manor West Hotel. 

2009 Tidy Tralee Award Winners

A total of 28 awards were presented to estates, businesses and individuals who had excelled in the 2009 Tidy Tralee competition.

In the best business frontage category there were awards for “Bella Bia” Restaurant in Ivy Terrace, Meadowlands and Manor West hotels,  the Abbey Inn and Brogue Inn for their major redevelopment work in the Town Centre and the Munster Bar, Ballymullen.  Jim O’Sullivan of St. Judes B&B in Rock Street received a special award for his floral displays.

The estate winners were Manor Village (large),  Meadowlands (Medium) and Ballinorig (small).  Eighty gardens competed for 10 awards in the garden competition.

Tralee won a silver medal in the 2009 national Tidy Towns competition and improved its marks by 7.
