Tralee Celebrates St. Patrick's Day in Style

Tralee celebrated the national holiday in style with a massive parade featuring ten bands from Kerry and Cork and over 50 floats and community groups. The soft Kerry mist, which had threatened, disappeared as the parade led by an Irish Army Colour Party wound its way through the crowded streets to the reviewing stand in Denny Street. The salute was taken by the Deputy Mayor Cllr. Mairead Fernane. She was joined on stage by other civic, church and community leaders as well as Thomas Meder, chairman of Tralee's German Partner Town of Frankfurt-Hochst.  The grand marshalls were All-Ireland Talent Show contestants Bella Anam, 'Sam Maguire' and the national apostle St. Patrick  who made his annual appearance. Cllr. Johnnie Wall who chairs the St. Parick's Day Committee was delighted with the turnout which has grown year on year. This years parade included representatives of Tralee's new immigrant communities.
