Spymaster
Exhibition Opens

The new
Spymaster Exhibition in Kerry County Museum has been officially
opened by the Kerry Museum Curator Ms. Helen O’Carroll. (June
27).

The exhibition charts
the life and times of the London based detective William
Melville, MI5’s first spymaster originally from Sneem who was
later codenamed “M” in the James Bond movies.
Among those in
attendance at the opening at the Ashe Memorial Hall were Andrew
Cook, author of “M”, Jackie Cahill from Kenmare, a descendant of
Melville, and retired Tralee Garda Chief Supt. Donal O’Sullivan
who has loaned a number of items from his own personal police
memorabilia collection to the exhibition.

The exhibition has
already attracted large numbers of school tour groups and will
continue at the Ashe Memorial Hall during 2007.
