New York Rose crowned Rose of Tralee 2007

The 2007 Rose of Tralee is Lisa
Murtagh (27) who represented New York in the competition. Lisa
was ‘shocked’ as her name was announced by RTÉ compere Ray
D'Arcy as the Garda Band struck up 'The Rose of Tralee' at the
final in the Festival Dome at Fels Point on August 20th. In an
unique development the new Rose was serenaded live on TV by 3
former Roses of Tralee – Róisín Egenton (New York 2000); Orla
Tobin (Dublin 2003) and Orla O’Shea (Kilkenny 2004). Lisa is the
fourth New York Rose to be crowned Rose of Tralee. Previous
winners are Maggie Flaherty (1974), Marie Soden (1976) and
Róisín Egenton (2000). Lisa, an attorney, was accompanied by
family and friends including her Dad, Colman, a native of County
Longford, and Mom, Breda, from County Limerick.
