Emer to Lead Tralee Parade

Emer Jones of Presentation Secondary School, winner of this year’s BT Young Scientists Competition, will be the grand marshal of this year’s Tralee St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Music will be the theme of this year’s parade, according to organising committee chairman, Cllr. Johnnie Wall. Eight separate bands will be marching or performing on festival floats.

The Parade will include an Army Colour Party, the Tralee and Cullen Pipe Bands, Brazillian Samba Band, school bands, scouts, sports, community, local state, voluntary groups and Kerry team members with SAM . The streets of the town are being specially decorated for the weekend.

Groups are to assemble at 11.30 am on Monday morning along JJ Sheehy Road and the parade, commencing at 12 noon, will follow its normal route down Boherbee, Castle Street, left into Denny Street where the reviewing stand will be erected.

There will be traditional music in the Square over the weekend and the major multicultural KADE concert in the Brandon Hotel on Monday afternoon and the whole event is free.
