After 17 counts which extended into Sunday
afternoon (June 7) the people of Tralee have chosen the 12
Councillors that will represent them for the next five years on
Tralee Town Council. Newly elected Cllr. Arthur J. Spring (Lab)
headed the poll, followed by Toiréasa Ferris (SF) and Terry
O'Brien (Lab) who were also
elected on the first count. Fine Gael trebled their
representation to three seats including outgoing Deputy Mayor
Cllr. Pat Hussey. Outgoing Mayor Cllr. Ted Fitzgerald was
one of three Fianna Fáil candidates to be elected. Cllr. Sam
Locke will be the only independent candidate on the new Council.
The turnout was 58.2%.
