Mayor Opens Castlemorris Millennium Park

The Mayor of Tralee, Cllr. AJ Spring has officially opened the Millennium Park in Castlemorris (July 16). Originally conceived as a Millennium project, the Mayor said it took a bit longer to deliver but was worth the wait. The park has as its centrepiece the Dove of Peace by local artist JJ Sheehy and will form an important link on the Ballyard-Ballyseedy Riverside Walk. The park was developed by Tralee Town Council's environmental division and will be maintained by the local residents. It was blessed by Fr. Gerard Finucane, CC. The Mayor, who has close connections with the area, paid tribute to Joan O'Regan and the local community for their initiative and Council staff for delivering the project.  The opening was attended by a large numbers of residents who laid on musical entertainment and refreshments for the invited guests. The Park is one of a series developed by the Town Council in recent years throughout the town in partnership with local communities.
